STAFF and parents at a secondary school are celebrating the success of a recent race night to benefit an important children's charity.
The parent-teacher association (PTA) at Wanstead High School held a race night to raise money for UNICEF, which was rounded off with an unusual event: live maggot racing.
A number of prizes were on offer throughout the evening, including deals with businesses in Wanstead High Street, free games at Top Golf in Chigwell, and tickets to see Leyton Orient.
Committee member Shaheen Rashid said: “Staff, parents and students of the school had a fantastic evening together. Not only did we all enjoy ourselves but we made £2000 for PTA funds.
“We were delighted to be able to make a donation towards the school council’s UNICEF fund.”
