A POLICE clampdown on speeding at a danger road proved successful with a number of drivers stopped.
Debden Neighbourhood Action Panel had asked Essex Police to look into patrolling Chester Road, Loughton, over concerns about some motorists
Back in March 2008, ten-year-old Ronni Norman was left fighting for her life when she was struck by a bus on the road, and residents have repeatedly called for a clampdown in the area.
Responding to the call, local Police Constable Doug Lisle was charged with running a four hour operation using a speed gun to track motorists.
On the day, 20 motorists were stopped to be given words of advice, and fixed penalty speeding notices were issued to three motorists caught travelling on the 30mph road at speeds of 38mph, 42mph and 45mph.
Mr Lisle said: “My aim was to educate motorists about the dangers of speeding and the consequences that driving above the limit can have.
“I will be reporting back to the panel members on the work completed and will continue to monitor the area over the next few months.”
