WORKERS at a Highams Park company claim the current owners are "not telling the truth" over the sale of the business.
As previously reported by The Guardian, Stadium PLC, which owns Quest Consumer Products and Stadium Building Products in Jubilee Avenue, said it is in discussions with a potential buyer.
But staff members, who asked to remain anonymous, said they understand a deal has already been done and they are expecting to receive their notice next week.
Staff claim the buyer is a firm called Flambeau Europlast Ltd, based in Ramsgate, Kent, which plans to move operations to its current site.
One worker said: "Everybody is very upset and angry - there are people who have worked here for 40 years and they are loyal to the company.
"We were told if we worked hard, we would be rewarded and this is the reward we are getting.
"The company is not telling the truth. They said there are 120 workers but there are more than 150 when you consider temporary and agency staff."
Another worker said trade unions were kept out of meetings on site and that union membership was "discouraged".
The Guardian is awaiting further comment from Stadium Group.
