A LATIN dancer from South Woodford is within touching distance of the grand final of a major TV talent show.
Rosa Perez, of Marquess Heights in South Woodford, is a member of Dance Flavourz, which has made it through to the semi-final stages of this year's Britain's Got Talent.
After the group impressed judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan, they are now one of just a handful of acts with the chance to appear in the final.
The dancer, 27, said: “It has been amazing, there are no words to describe how much we are all enjoying the show.
“We're on the live semi-final on Friday. I don't think I'm nervous at the moment, because there's quite a bit of stress, we need to finish out costumes and everything.
“Maybe when on Friday when we're about to go on stage to perform I will be nervous but I have so much to do before then.
“I have been in the group for about three years and we've got dancers from all over the world. I'm from Havana in Cuba and there are girls from Spain, from Brazil, everywhere really.”
Her husband, Brian Dillworth, 43, said : “Obviously coming from Cuba she was dancing from a very young age. She was in the national ballet company of Cuba when she was younger, which is the equivalent of the English National Ballet over here.
“She did gymnastics until about the age of seven and then got very much into dancing. She's performed the lead roles in Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and lots of others.
“When she came to UK about 5 years ago she started doing salsa and joined various dance companies. With her natural rhythm she became UK one of leading teachers of salsa and is booked up teach all over the country, as well as dancing in places like Dubai and Turkey.
“She's done so well to get down to the last few of many thousands of people who auditioned, so I'd be delighted to see them getting all way to live final.”
Mrs Perez's Britain's Got Talent semi-final will be on ITV1 at 7:30pm.
