MOTORISTS face severe delays to their journeys on the M25 this morning due to an earlier accident.

The accident took place on the motorway between junction 26 at Waltham Abbey and junction 25 at Enfield before 8am this morning, and that traffic is still queuing back to junction 28 with the A12 at the Brook Street roundabout.

Two lanes of the road were closed until around 8:30, when they were re-opened as the vehicles involved in the smash were moved to the hard shoulder.

Reports indicate travel times could be as long as two hours through the affected area.

The Guardian has contacted the police to confirm the exact nature of the accident.
