YOUNGSTERS at a primary school have jumped at the chance to learn from an aspiring athlete.

JJ Jegede, a member of Newham & Essex Beagles, is hoping to compete in the long jump at London 2012.

But before he takes on the challenge of trying to make it to the Olympics in London he is taking time out of his training schedule to work with pupils at Ainslie Wood Primary School in Chingford.

The 24-year-old, who has competed internationally, has visited the school on seven separate occasions and it is hoped his weekly sessions will continue up until the Olympics in 2012.

Kate Jennings, headteacher, said: "JJ takes 25 children for a lesson and a different group each week.

"We are thinking about putting in place a proper programme from September, where he helps our athletes to progress.

"Every Monday the children are really excited and eager and they have said how much they enjoy learning from JJ, he has been fantastic."
