THE new Government has pledged its commitment to an Olympic legacy in East London after 2012.
Doubt was cast on the future of London’s 2012 legacy plans following the General Election when the Government decided to review all spending decisions taken since the turn of the year.
This included the transfer of London Development Agency land to the Olympic Park Legacy Company without the transfer of accompanying debt.
Boris Johnson, London Mayor, wrote to the Chancellor George Osbourne requesting that an agreement between himself and the previous Government should continue so that work to develop a lasting legacy for London could continue.
Mr Osbourne today replied and said: "I can confirm that I will be writing to Eric Pickles (Secretary for Communities and Local Government) to confirm that the previous administration's deal to transfer part of the Olympic Park to the Olympic Park Legacy Company still remains in place."
The Olympic Park Legacy Company will work in East London to create a legacy of new homes, jobs and communities around the Olympic Village.
