THE Epping Forest branch of the English Speaking Union enjoyed a tour of a historic Buckinghamshire village for their summer outing.
A group of 24 members from the branch paid a visit to Chenies where they toured the local manor house and gardens.
The Tudor property was once the seat of the Dukes of Bedford. It has been extended on several occasions but is still owned privately.
In the estate's grounds is the village church which houses the remains of several Dukes of Bedford.
ESU vice chairman Tony Meager said: “It was an interesting place to visit. We had a lovely day and the weather was terrific.”
The ESU is a charity which seeks to promote international understanding through the English language.
The Epping Forest branch meets monthly at the Murray Hall, in Borders Lane, Loughton. To find out more call 01992 813143
