MORE than 100 golfers raised a staggering £145,000 for good causes at an event recently.
The Redbridge Golf Aid Society raised the cash at an event at the Abridge Golf and Country Club on Thursday, July 1.
The money will go to three Jewish causes. £5,000 went to the Doris & Sidney Gold RAGS Scholars to help post A-level students spend a year in Israel to learn how to become leaders in the community.
Meanwhile, CST received £10,000 in recognition of the work they do safeguarding the community, and £130,000 was raised for Jewish Care’s Redbridge Jewish Community Centre (RJCC).
Lloyd Green, chairman of the RAGS committee, said: “Today RAGS celebrates its Ruby anniversary – 40 amazing years - and I am pleased to tell you that we have raised £145,000 for Jewish causes.
“In the last ten years RAGS has raised in excess of £1.5 million for the local community thanks to the outstanding work done by the fundraising and golf committee.
“Our special thanks go to all those who have given so generously and to our sponsors who continue to be so supportive.”
