AS preparations for the London Olympics continue, people in the district can get into the mood at a new exhibition.
The Sporting Heroes exhibition, at the district's museum, in Sun Street, Waltham Abbey, celebrates the achievements of the East Of England's present and future athletic stars.
It features a variety of memorabilia on loan from a number of sports clubs with the aim of highlighting the area's sporting heritage.
The exhibition was opened by district council chairman Anne Grigg, and visitors on the day could also see a display of football freestyle skills from members of the Tottenham Football Foundation.
Seb Coe, chairman of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, said: “Sporting Heroes is encouraging visitors to fulfil their potential. I am proud that with the help of partners such as Epping Forest District Council we are delivering on our vision to use the power of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games to boost participation in sporting activities.”
