Police say the men suddenly became abusive without provocation.
The male victim was hit across the back of the head, causing him to fall, while his partner was slapped across the face.
The two men then ran off with the woman's handbag.

They were wearing jeans and dark coloured tops.
One of them was wearing a dark woolly hat and the other was seen to have a distinctive gold tooth.
