MORE than 270 residents of an estate enjoyed themselves at a free fun and sports day.

The event was held at the Priory Court Community Centre and organised by Circle 33 Housing Trust.

A range of activities were on offer for all ages, including face painting, arts and craft workshops, herbs planting, smoothie making, live music and game sessions.

Women from the Bees Knees patchwork and quilting group were also on hand to show off creative ideas in a textile workshop.

A belly dancer and salsa dance performances were a big hit, as were hand and body massages.

Outside the community centre residents challenged the housing association’s team in a mini multi-sports competition.

The main attraction was the Velcro Olympics, where the teams’ fitness and strengths skills were tested. All winners were awarded prizes and medals.

Samantha Sainty, a Priory Court resident, said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the event; this year was the biggest one ever.

"Staff were wonderful and I can hardly wait for the next community day.”

The event was organised as part of the housing association’s ongoing programme of Resident Involvement and Community Development events to bring communities together and ensure residents’ views on homes, services and their community are at the heart of its activities.

Gulsun Faik, community development partnership manager for Circle 33, said: “It was great to see so many people attend the event.

"At Circle 33 we are passionate about enhancing people’s Life Chances, it was very useful to see and talk to the residents, hear their ideas and start to resolve any concerns there and then.

"We received some valuable feedback which helps to shape our services.”
