The pair started playing pool with two other men who they did not know.
Soon after, an argument started and one of the workers, who had been playing pool originally, was "subjected to a short but serious assault".
A police spokeswoman said: "He was kicked, punched and sustained a deep cut to his head.
"His colleague was also assaulted."
