LUSCIOUS chocolate cake, feather-light Victoria sponge, and tea in bone-china cups were among the treats on offer at an all day coffee morning held for charity.
Chigwell & Hainault Synagogue member Sylvia Murray set up the event at her home in Chigwell to raise money for The Helen Rollason Heal Cancer Charity, and the Bart’s Hospital Charity for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
She was helped by fellow members of the Chigwell synagogue's congregation to set up the event which included a bring and buy stall, and raffle.
The highlight of the coffee morning was proclaimed to be the home-made biscuits by Chigwell & Hainault Ladies’ Guild stalwart Edna Shneider, a regular contributor to the All Day Coffee Morning, who has just celebrated her eighty-fifth birthday.
With extra pledges and donations to come, Sylvia hopes to raise £1,000 for her chosen charities.
