ONGAR and North Weald MP Eric Pickles took a break from his Government work when he paid a visit to check how the building of a new arts centre was going.
Mr Pickles, who recently became the new minister for communities and local government, visited the Theatre Resource complex in Ongar five months after he launched the start of construction work.
He said: “I believe this development will become a jewel in the crown of my constituency and I am astounded at the progress that has been made since I launched the start of building work".
The Theatre Resource group, which specialises in projects for disabled people, already has an arts and stage complex in Stony Hill, but is expanding its capacity with the new £6.2million structure at the site.
It is due to open in the summer of next year.
Jeff Banks, the director and CEO of Theatre Resource, said: “We were delighted to welcome Mr Pickles back to our project and are very grateful for his ongoing support.”
