A 24-year-old man had to be rescued after he became trapped underneath some bricks.
The emergency services rushed to Moreton Road, Ongar, at around 6.45am this morning (Saturday) after reports that a person was stuck below a wall.
It took another 40 minutes for firefighters to free the man using specialist cutting equipment and other tools.
The injured man was then treated by paramedics. His current condition is unknown.
A spokeswoman for Essex Fire and Rescue Service said they did not know how the man had become trapped.
The service's Urban Search and Rescue team was also called to the scene, but the man had been freed by the time they arrived.
Crews from Ongar, Leaden Roding, Brentwood and Harlow all attended.
