SMOKE billowed across the M11 when a grass fire broke out on the roadside.
Firefighters rushed to the highway between junctions five and six near Loughton yesterday (Saturday) at around 5.15pm after receiving more than 50 calls from worried motorists.
Two crews from Loughton and one from Harlow managed to extinguish the flames within 20 minutes and no-one was hurt.
