A SUPPORT group for people with respiratory conditions has raised thousands of pounds for Whipps Cross Hospital.
The London Lung Club is donating £10,000 to the hospital today (Monday), which will be shared between the Accident and Emergency department and the Chest Clinic.
Supporters of the club have been raising cash in charity events across the borough for the past two years.
Their last was a sponsored 5km walk in the pouring rain in May, which started at the Bakers Alms Houses in Lea Bridge Road, Leyton.
The Lung Club organises outings for patients with respiratory conditions and also runs a weekly exercise session at the Kelmscott Leisure Centre in Walthamstow.
Lung Club chairman Veronica Crace, 63, of New Wanstead, Wanstead, said: "Anyone with any type of lung or chest condition is welcome to our sessions.
"Our job is to give more social care for these patients, taking them on trips to the coast, taking them out into the borough.
"If you can meet people with similar conditions, you feel safer and more open."
The presentation at Whipps Cross Hospital is at 4pm.
