SELDOM have I been prouder to be a fan of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club than today, when I found out we had become the first top flight side to ban vuvuzelas from our ground.

While people's incessant droning about them has become almost as annoying as the incessant droning noise they make, the horns ruined the Confederations Cup for me and threatened to do the same during the World Cup this summer.

Although, in the end I had Fabio Capello and the England squad to thank for that.

Before the tournament was a week old the great and the good of British sport were worrying that they could find their way into events over here, and among the first to ban them was blazer and strawberries brigade at the All England Club.

How reassuring of Spurs to have followed suit, and, of course, for West Ham to have jumped on the banning bandwagon just a few hours later.

I hope every club in the league follows Tottenham's lead, otherwise we could be in for an infuriating season.
