THE COUNCIL has agreed plans for the regenerations of one of the borough's busiest town centres.
The commercial centre of Barkingside will benefit from improvements to access as well as its shops and services, after Redbridge Council's cabinet approved the new Barkingside Town Centre Improvement Plan.
The plan includes a series of schemes to provide better facilities for people with mobility problems and enhance the area's reputation among visitors.
Cabinet member for planning and regeneration Cllr Nick Hayes said: “The Barkingside Town Centre Improvement Plan responds directly to residents’ concerns about the perception of the town centre and lack of appropriate shops and facilities.
“The plan provides a long-term vision for upgrades to infrastructure will include the introduction of new open spaces for events and recreation and improved and better located car parking for shoppers and businesses.”
