TWO girls from Waltham Forest helped host workshops on how to get involved in the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.
Erica Jeffrey, 17, and Leanne Simmons, 17, both studying at Chingford Foundation School, in Nevin Drive, Chingford, were among a team of youngsters from across the five Olympic boroughs to put on the event, which overlooked the Olympic Park.
The event aimed to demonstrate the skills young people need to run their own events in the future, and also how they can contribute to the Olympic Games in two years time by stewarding.
Leanne said: "This project has highlighted the lack of events, particularly for young people in my borough, Waltham Forest.
"But hopefully it will encourage people to perhaps experience other low key events for young people in the other Olympic Boroughs.”
