TOP JAZZ musicians from one of the area's secondary schools have joined a new jazz ensemble.
Wanstead High School students Alice Cleaver, 14, Tom Holmes, 13, Alex Robertson, 17, and David Turay, 14, were all recommended by the Redbridge Music Service to work with some of the UK's leading jazz artists as part of a project by New York's Jazz at the Lincoln Center Orchestra during their residency at London's Barbican.
After several weekends of working with artistic director Paul Griffiths, the youngsters spent a memorable day with the orchestra itself and performed on the Free Stage at the Barbican.
The quartet of talented students have now joined the Young East London Jazz Ensemble which will open doors to opportunities to learn from and perform with some of the biggest names in UK jazz.
