THE future of an 80-year-old branch of the Royal British Legion is still unclear after a decision over closure was postponed to its Annual General Meeting.
An extraordinary meeting of the High Ongar branch of the RBL was heard last Tuesday (July 20), to discuss whether the group should shut, but members voted to defer judgement until August 10.
The national headquarters of the RBL held a meeting this morning (July 22) to look into alleged irregularities at the branch, but a date for that meeting's judgement has not been announced.
RBL county manager Lynette Francis said: “There's nothing to report at the moment. It hasn't closed and there's still another meeting to be held.
“It's for the members of the branch to be consulted to find out whether they do want to close and that's what they will be doing.”
