FORMER West Ham boss Alan Curbishley was the guest of honour at King Harold School's first ever PE presentation evening.
The ex-Hammers and Charlton manager handed out prizes to the Waltham Abbey school's greatest sports performers in a year which has seen impressive achievements on the field.
Four teams from the school, in Broomstick Hall Road, have won their district competitions this year.
The Senior Girls Netball team won the West Essex League and narrowly missed out representing the district at the county finals when they lost 11-9 to Passmores in a playoff.
The Year 9 Boys experienced a perfect season in their district football league winning all of their games and gaining promotion to the higher league while the Year 9 Girls rounders team won first place in the district competition and the Year 7 basketball team won their district league.
Among the prizes handed out on the evening, the top awards for outstanding achievement were given to Adam Lord, who plays junior cricket for Essex, and Ruby Penfold who plays netball for Hertfordshire.
Head of PE Jonathan Skelton said: “It was a very successful evening with over 200 students, parents and staff present.
“There was an added bonus to the evening as Alan Curbishley presented the awards and was kind enough to share some of his thoughts about sport inside and outside of school.”
