POLICE have said a motorcyclist was lucky to survive a collision in Essex.
A 64-year-old woman from South Woodford was taken to hospital after a collision last week in which police believe a car may have hit the bike rider and failed to stop .
Police have just released details of the incident and officers are appealing for witnesses.
The collision happened on the A12 southbound carriageway just before junction 16.
It was just before 10pm on Thursday, July 22, and police believe the woman's blue and silver Yamaha was possibly struck by a silver vehicle that failed to stop at the scene.
The South Woodford rider was taken to Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, after sustaining minor injuries.
PC Alex Southgate, investigating officer, said: “We are looking for anybody who may have witnessed the collision and, in particular, who may be able to help us identify the vehicle that failed to stop.
"The motorcyclist fell to the carriageway and at that point her machine was hit by a vehicle. Another motorist then stopped and assisted her until we arrived.
"The motorcyclist was very lucky that she was not hit by passing traffic as she lay injured in lane one.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact road policing officers from the A12 Alliance on 0300 333 4444.
