CHILDREN are getting musical at a music group in Walthamstow.
Music Makers have opened their Bongalong group for birthday parties and musical sessions for children from Waltham Forest up to the age of five.
Session manager Fiona Lundie-Smith, from Walthamstow, said: “The way we use music, movement and drama supports the developmental stages children at a young age.
“Songs and rhymes help speech development and language.
“Action songs and movement develop co-ordination and music games encourage listening skills.
“Our leaders come from a variety of backgrounds as musicians, actors or dancers and many are parents themselves.
“Within each session every idea we use is carefully worked out with clear aims and objectives.
“These ideas are then developed from week to week gradually to include new ideas so there is variety and repetition, a necessary combination for young children to learn.”
The sessions are run weekly in Walthamstow at three different venues. They are St Gabriel’s Church in Havant Road, the Low Hall Nursery School and Children’s Centre in Queen's Road, and the Chapel End Early Years Centre in Brookscroft Road.
