POLICE are trying to trace a man suspected of burgling a house in Buckhurst Hill, who was caught on CCTV as he used a cash machine in the town on Sunday.

Handbags, a purse and bank documents were stolen from the house in Woodside on July 4, after an intruder reached through a cat-flap and turned the keys, which were left in the back door.

CCTV images released by the police today show a man using the cash machine outside Waitrose in Buckhurst Hill early on Sunday morning.

He is described as wearing a knitted jumper, which is brown with dark blue on the top shoulder section, over a white polo shirt, wearing blue jeans with a dark yellow emblem on the left hand rear pocket like a stylised M, believed to be EVISU or a similar brand.

Pc Jacqui Mileham, of Essex Police, said: “There were other people in the vicinity that might be able to help with our enquiries; a white man who was making deliveries to a nearby store in Queens Road who was driving a dark red Peugeot wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans with turn-ups and a white man driving a white Nissan Qashqai who used the ATM at about 6.23am.

“This man was wearing a black or dark blue and white striped polo shirt, black or dark blue knee length shorts and black or dark blue boating shoes.

“I would really appreciate if these people contact me as they may hold vital information.”

Witnesses are asked to contact Pc Mileham or Pc Laura Dyer at Epping police station on 0300 333 4444 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
