A DATE has been set for a meeting to decide whether a milkshake bar will be allowed to stay open later.
The late licence application from Cakes and Shakes in Woodford Green High Road will be heard on August 23.
The application was due to be discussed at Ilford Town Hall on June 10 but the meeting had to be rescheduled after representatives of the business failed to turn up.
The owners of Cakes and Shakes have applied to the council to open until 11pm on weekdays and 2am at weekends.
The application prompted residents living nearby to register their disapproval as they fear a later licence could signal an increase in litter and anti-social behaviour, with potential for youngsters to congregate around the premises.
The hearing on August 23 will be at 10.30am in the council chamber at Ilford Town Hall.
Cakes and Shakes has two other branches, one in Gants Hill and one in Loughton High Road, which was met with similar controversy when it opened in February last year.
