SOLID rock was the theme for an annual holiday club which attracted over 160 children.

This year's club at Loughton Methodist Church included craft activities, singing, dancing and drama all themed around Bible stories and the concept of building.

By the end of the week, the church hall, in Loughton High Road, was filled with artwork, collages, and models.

Proceedings finished with a special service summing up the week’s fun where some of the best songs and stories were performed again by the children.

The holiday club is entirely organised by volunteers and this year more than 100 people helped out throughout the week including visiting vicar Rev Bob Moore who is on secondment from Acton, Massachusetts, and dressed up as Bob the Builder for the event.

He said: “I am delighted to participate in this holiday club, which is taking place at the same time as the one in my home church where we call it Vacation Bible School. I am tremendously impressed with the number of adults and older youths who volunteer to make this such a wonderful experience.”
