GARETH Bale insists Tottenham's players will learn from the football lesson dealt them by Villarreal at White Hart lane on Thursday.
Spurs were soundly beaten 4-1 by the Spaniards, with Giuseppe Rossi grabbing a superb hat-trick, and Giovani Dos Santos providing the only cheer of the evening for the home faithful.
Bale looked good when he came on at half-time, operating on the left wing, where he created several chances for his team-mates, but the visitors had too much in the end for Harry Redknapp's side.
The Welsh international said: “To be fair they played well but it's something we'll look at, we'll learn from this game and take that into the season.
“We all knew they were a good footballing team and they showed it, they played well.
“For us, the result isn't the most important thing.
“Okay, it isn't nice to lose like that, especially at home, but the main thing is fitness and preparation and the lads will have got something out of the game.
“We'll learn from it and take that into the season.”
