AN Epping street was evacuated for an hour and a half this afternoon after en explosive device was discovered.
Police and the Royal Logistics Corps bomb disposal were seen rushing to Theydon Place, off Hemnall Street at about 5.15pm, after what Essex Police described an "an incendiary device" was found at a resident's home.
Neighbour Lisa Saggers, who made cups of tea for Theydon Place residents while they waited to return to their homes, said: "I came home and there were three police cars, an ambulance and a bomb disposal van there.
"There was quite a good neighbourly spirit, though. Everyone stood and chatted."
The device was removed by the bomb disposal squad.
