POLICE investigating a hit-and-run which left a seven-year-old boy fighting for his life have released an e-fit of the driver and an image of a van they believe were involved.
The boy was hit by a blue van while crossing Leyswood Drive in Ilford on Wednesday, July 28, at around 5:15pm.
Eyewitnesses told police that the driver, who is described as white with spiky blond hair, drove on for approximately 20 yards with the boy still under the vehicle.
After the boy became freed, the driver continued for a further 30 yards before stopping and walking back to where the victim lay in the road.
The driver then ran back to his van and made off, turning left onto the A12.
The victim was taken to a central London hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
The investigation is being lead by Detective Inspector Simon Sharp from the Road Death Investigation Unit at Chadwell Heath Traffic garage.
Det Insp Sharp said: “We continue to appeal to this man to come forward. We would also urge anyone with information about him or the van to contact us as soon as possible.”
