TWO council workers charged with poisoning more than 80 birds at a Wanstead beauty spot will face trial.
In March residents were aghast when they came across dozens of bird corpses next to Alexandra Lake in Aldersbrook.
A dog also died when it was let off its leash in the area, which was then sealed off from the public for several days.
Paul Webb, 27, of Peregrine Road, Ilford, and Mark Page, 35, of White Hart Lane, Romford, appeared at Redbridge Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
The pair denied two counts of using a pesticide without approval, two counts of poisoning animals, and two counts of killing a wild bird, and one count of one count of storing a pesticide without ministerial approval.
Police said both men worked as pest controllers for a local authority, but have not said which one.
The case is set to be heard at Snaresbrook Crown Court on September 20.
