WE currently have 17 governors on our corporation and your involvement and contribution can help us to meet the needs of our 2,000 students who study here at Leyton Sixth Form College.
Our Governors are all volunteers drawn from the community, bringing with them a vast range of experience and expertise in areas such as education, business, law, charities and finance.
The broader your field of experience and cultural perspective, the better.
We value the diversity of our students and staff and are keen to reflect this amongst our governors.
The role of the corporation is to agree the strategic direction of the college, set objectives and monitor results.
Governors support the principal and senior management team to provide a high quality and effective learning experience for everyone who attends the college.
The corporation meets five times per year, holds an annual conference and in addition has developed a committee structure comprising five committees: audit, finance and business, quality, remuneration and search.
Working with us can be a positive step towards a long-term career development.
We are seeking people who can contribute ideas, offer advice and support and act as a critical friend to college managers.
The role is voluntary and you can expect support and guidance right from the start.
Interested? Please contact Val Bartlett, clerk to the corporation, on 020 8928 9056, email her at val.bartlett@leyton.ac.uk or write to Val Bartlett, Leyton Sixth Form College, Essex Road, Leyton, E10 6EQ.
