THE annual end of year art, design and media exhibition at Leyton Sixth Form College took place recently, proving to be a hugely successful and enjoyable event.
It was very well attended by past, present and future students as well as friends, family and teachers.
There was a fantastic range of work, professionally displayed in fine art, fashion, graphics, photography, moving image and architecture.
Many young artists and designers whose work was on display are going on to study the subject at a higher level, some at very prestigious colleges such as UCL Bartlett and Central St Martins.
The college was recently inspected by Ofsted and was given a glowing report for its Visual arts and media programme.
According to the college’s recent Ofsted report, “the ambitious and aspirational culture in the area encourages the majority of advanced level students to apply to higher education. Progression rates are good.
“A collaborative project with the University of Arts, London, has been successful in securing places for students at prestigious universities.”
The report went on to praise the enrichment activities the courses offered, including regular trips and visits to galleries and studios. “Students develop good practical and professional skills that enable them to produce work of a high standard. Sketchbooks contain a good range of experimental and research work,” the report added.
LSC offers AS and A-Level courses in art and design, three-dimensional design, graphic design, textiles, photography and media, as well as vocational courses in art and design and media and a diploma in art and design.
