LSC RECENTLY held its annual HE and Progression event with hundreds of university lecturers and other speakers coming to advise students about their future.
I believe that young people will find it more difficult to fulfil their ambitions, especially with the challenges of a wrecked economy.
I was thankfully guided by my supportive teachers at Leyton Sixth Form College to move forward and see what opportunities there were at the HE careers fair.
As part of the Higher Education and Progression event, I was offered many workshops such as the history, English and finance workshops. Not only that, there were also workshops on how to ‘Sell yourself with confidence’, which will help us to get into universities and find work placements.
I, personally being extremely passionate about journalism, participated in a journalism workshop. I had the opportunity to meet Sanoobar Patel, a journalist who is now the marketing manager for Leyton Sixth Form College.
I was able to ask many questions and find out more about what I should be doing, what qualifications I would need and what courses are available to me at university.
Journalism is a much more competitive field to get into now, and so I know I will need top grades. Having my mind set early and knowing what challenges I would have to face, this HE day gave me an insight into the working life of a journalist.
