LSC COLLEGE has an active Christian Union with students forging a number of international links with other churches.
Since the announcement of the religious convocation in America, this year has been full of events and fundraising for me.
My church youth group has been organising events from concerts to car washes to help raise the funds for a group visit.
The Now Generation youth club in Bethnal Green, run by our youth Pastor, Pastor Paul, had a meeting to create ideas on how we could raise funds.
One of my friends volunteered to be in charge of the car wash event, which was to be held in May.
At the time the British weather was experiencing one of its good spells with a whole week of blissful sunshine the week before.
When the Saturday of the car wash came around, I woke up to a dreary, cold, rainy morning wishfully hoping that the day would get better.
Unfortunately it was a day of on and off showers.
In the end, the day was fun and we had mini water fights in between washing cars and raised a lot of money. We’ve had a few car washes since and the British weather has been a lot better.
We’ve held fashion shows with a 1980s vibe and stylist Amanda Earle, also known as Shorty, came in and showed us her line of work. The convocation in America will be filled with speakers and teachers teaching on Christianity.
We will also be performing for the congregation over there so we are working on the performances.
The year so far has been filled with events and hard work and I have really enjoyed it.
I know our hard work will pay off and I think this will be a great summer for me and my friends.
