MUSLIMS strongly condemn the terrorist attacks on New York and London, which caused the death and injury of thousands of innocent people. We offer condolences to all the bereaved families. Following these events, the world’s attention turned to who was responsible for these appalling acts of terrorism.

Most people realise and accept Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance that summons individuals to compassion and justice.

Many world leaders, leading media organisations, television and radio stations say that true Islam forbids violence, and encourages peace between people and between nations.

Western governments have come to a better understanding of Islam, and recognise that it is a religion that promotes peace and not violence.

Terrorism is a crime against humanity. Islam is a religion that means peace. In the Koran, the holy book of Islam, God commands believers to bring peace and security to the world. Islamic morality should be the cure for terrorism, not the source of it.

Muslims must work together to spread the message of their religion, to teach other Muslims and non-Muslims that Islam is a religion of peace and serenity.
