PREPARE to be amazed by our brand new facilities.
This summer sees the next exciting phase in Leyton Sixth Form College’s multi-million pound campus redevelopment.
The first of our newly-extended and refurbished buildings, Howarth House, will open on August 23.
This building will provide state-of-the-art IT facilities for our computing students as well as a suite of dedicated, well-resourced classrooms for our humanities subjects, including psychology, sociology, government and politics, history and law.
Also new for the start of the 2010/2011 academic year will be our fully refurbished dining areas – so new in fact, that we are still trying to think of suitable names for the two, quite different areas.
We plan to create one quieter area – a welcoming environment, with comfortable sofas and armchairs where students can relax with a drink and a snack while taking time out from their studies.
The second area will serve hot food and drinks and will provide a bright, lively space to meet up and chat with friends.
This area will look out onto “the Street” – our amazing new covered walkway which will become the main thoroughfare of the college, linking all our buildings while providing a pleasant social space in its own right.
It doesn’t end there! Towards the end of 2010, our fantastic new sports hall will be ready for action, complete with a modern fitness suite full of the latest equipment.
This will be followed shortly by the opening of a further two new buildings, one of which will house our new professional theatre, recording studios and even a TV studio.
