THE art department held its first ever art exhibition last Wednesday evening, showcasing hundreds of pieces of art produced by students.
The exhibition was a celebration of the hard work, effort and of course creativity, which enabled the students to present their excellent and innovative artwork.
Budding artists at GCSE and A-Level produced a plethora of art work ranging from a staggering 30 to 60 pieces each.
Hopeful fashion designer Sanya Torkmorad, 16, chose a captivating ‘Passions and Obsessions’ theme to base her work around. “I’m hoping to imitate the fashionable villain Cruella Deville in my next piece of work – I can’t wait to put it together.”
The hundreds of pieces of artwork have taken students as long as six hours each to complete, and the exhibition displayed the students’ achievements.
Sixth form pupil Leanne Simmons, 17, said: “I’ve worked hard non-stop – in every free period and after school. I’m so proud that everyone can now enjoy my abstract and individual pieces.”
Art student Stella Sampson, 18, had a whole wall dedicated to her work and has received a vast amount of interest from spectators wanting to buy pieces from her unique collection of oil paintings and prints. “It’s nice to see my work grace the walls. I’ve been working hard since September to make everything perfect”.
With her pieces – priced at more than £100 – waiting to be snapped up by a number of individuals, Stella has been offered a place at Westminster University to study Illustration in a bid to secure a much desired career in art.
But despite the blood, sweat and tears put into each piece of work, the reception and overall sense of gratification was something Chingford Foundation School are extremely proud of.
