OVER the last few months students in Year nine have been making big decisions about their future educational career in the form of what Options they will be taking.
These will be the key subjects they will study as well as their core subjects for their GCSE’s.
On the whole, the options process was fantastic. The meetings were brilliant and assemblies were at the same standard as a private school.
The booklet contained all the information that was needed for the process in this stressful time. The teachers were very encouraging in letting you know whether you were able to achieve the standard for the GCSE course.
The people that will need help with their academic years have a large choice for subject from practical work to class room work.
However, I would like to suggest that maybe the school holds an ‘Options Day’, where all of the Year nine students come to the school and head of subject teachers explain what you will be doing in future years.
The school should show you what happens in the subject, what are the requirements to get the subject for the years that are in the future. These would help to be guided into the right options and this might stop any bad decisions in for example between history and geography or maybe media studies and business studies.
These are all examples of different subjects that a substantial amount of students have to consider during the options process
