SUMMER is here and that means only one thing – The Chingford Summer Concert.
Aspiring musicians from GCSE to A-Level have been rehearsing from the beginning of term, putting together an ensemble of bands and singers for the performance of the year.
“The choir have been putting in hours every Wednesday lunch time and after school to make their performance absolutely flawless”, said hopeful singer and music student Illona Tyrell.
The hall was alive with the sound of music as bands and musicians showcased an eclectic mix of songs from artists like Justin Bieber, Beyonce and The White Stripes. Students also performed a number of pieces of ragtime music as they injected an element of history and culture into the concert. The commitment and determination put into each performance was something the music department take pride in every year. A-Level student and sound tech monitor Anna-Marie McHaffie, said: “It’s so fun. Even though the preparation was hectic, it was all worth it in the end.”
Thanks must go to the music teachers, Miss Lill and Miss Barnes, whose organisation skills were the base of the whole concert.
