YEAR 10 pupils were given the opportunity to host their own radio show live on ‘Street Live FM’, a local radio station in Walthamstow.

Before going live, the group of 10 pupils had to undergo four weeks of training in order to understand how a radio station works..

They gained and developed many skills and techniques, giving them a deeper understanding of the world of radio.

Ayesha Taylor-Camara and Rayah Munn named their show ‘Real Talkz’.

Aaliyah Blake-Patrick, Shola Parker, Trae Henry-Richards and Karim Abdullah named their show ‘Mix ‘n’ Match’.

Trae Hudson, James Fahey, Tanaka Chigwanda and Emel Avcin named theirs Zap Radio.

At 1pm on Tuesday, May 25, the shows went live, first with Zap Radio, which played old school tunes and interviewed Mr Reid.

At 1.40pm the Real Talkz show had some interesting views on the recent dance styles of Jerkin’ and Shankin’.

Additionally, they also interviewed the up and coming UK hip-hop artist Teezy, who at the time of going to press was seventh in the MTV charts with his single Come In.

The Mix ’n’ Match show wrapped up the afternoon at 2.20pm, with its discussions on Gully vs Gaza.

Rayah Munn, from Real Talkz, said: “It was absolutely fantastic. It boosted my confidence.”

Trae Henry Richards, of Mix ‘n’ Match, said: “It was amazing, fantastic and magnificent.”
