THE CREATOR of a website launched to help commuters claim refunds after delays on the Tube says the service has seen a surge in registrations over problems on the Victoria line.

A number of delays in recent months caused by problems with new state-of-the-art trains and faulty signals have left Waltham Forest commuters frustrated, with some trapped underground in high temperatures for long periods.

Transport for London say the new trains, which are part of a £1bn upgrade of the line, are experiencing teething problems which include ‘over sensitive” door sensors.

Connor Kinnear set up mytubewaslate.com last month to help disgruntled commuters who are put off by lengthy refund forms.

He said a large proportion of the thousands who have registered to make a claim are Victoria line users.

He said: "In terms of all the thousands of claims made through our site, over one third of all claims have been made due to a delay on the Victoria line.

"We see peaks of new users when lines are severely delayed and as a result have had a large number of Victoria line users due to the recent problems.

Walthamstow MP Stella Creasy is due to meet Victoria Line management next week to discuss the ongoing problems.
