TWO men have been found guilty of running a Leyton gun factory producing “James Bond-style” weapons.

Fatmir Kadena, 26, of Flack Court, Leyton, and Paul Coke, 39, of Ilford, were arrested following a raid on a premises beneath a railway arch in Tilbury Road on May 11.

There officers found a number of guns, including a pen and a key-ring which had been modified to fire ammunition.

The raid also uncovered self-loading pistols, revolvers and a 500 volt stun-gun, as well as ammunition and weapon parts.

Two Olympic 38 starting pistols in the process of being converted into deadly weapons were also found.

Further guns and ammunition were also found hidden at a nearby premises on Tilbury Road.

Police believe the pair had been running the factory for three months and had profited from selling weapons to the criminal underworld.

Coke was arrested in the factory and Kadena was picked up seven months later.

The CCTV that the duo had set up to avoid detection contributed to their convictions.

Footage seized by police showed Coke concealing a gun inside a pool table.

Detective Constable Dan Bryant, from Operation Trident, said: "This was a highly organised operation whereby Coke and Kadena were converting and modifying firearms, doubtless with the sole intention of selling them on to those intent on committing serious crime.

"They were dangerous and ruthless individuals, content in the knowledge they were producing deadly weapons in order to line their own pockets and I am pleased that today's result reflects the danger their actions posed to the wider community.

"Operation Trident is committed to tackling all aspects of gun crime and will continue in its determination to bring those who profit from it to justice."

Both men were found guilty today at Snaresbrook Crown Court of conspiracy to possess firearms and ammunition with intent to enable others to endanger life.

They are due to be sentenced on Tuesday (August 10).
