HOE Street, in Walthamstow, has now re-opened following a road accident this morning.
It is believed a BMW driver lost control and hit a lamppost at around 6am near the Rose and Crown pub.
An ambulance crew and response car were sent to the scene and a 27-year-old man was taken to Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel, with what are believed to be serious injuries.
The road was closed for over six hours while debris was cleared, but has now re-opened both ways.
