A 96-YEAR-OLD great-grandfather is appealing to whoever stole a statue of a dog from his front garden to return it.
Percy Wilding, of Turner Avenue, Walthamstow, bought the statue two years ago.
His daughter Wendy Bushnell discovered the ornament was missing from his garden when she paid him a visit last week.
The statue, which stands only 10 inches tall, had been decorated by his grandchildren and had only recently been repainted.
Mr Turner said: “I only bought it because I thought it would make the front garden look a bit nicer.
“Someone must have had a reason to steal it. They either took it for their own garden or they took it to sell it on.
“There is too much stealing going on these days.”
