WALTHAMSTOW Toy Library is appealing for donations so that it can give presents to less fortunate children in the borough this Christmas.

Over the past two years the centre, in Ravenswood Road, has worked in co-operation with the Salvation Army, social services and a variety of children's centres to deliver around 400 gifts to local youngsters.

There will be two festive parties at the Toy Library tomorrow (Thursday December 16) and Friday (December 17) where visitors can bring donations of unwrapped new toys.

The events will run between 4pm and 6pm and entry is by ticket only.

Donations can also be made by visiting the centre up until Monday December 20.

Helen Crockford, chair of the Walthamstow Toy Library volunteer committee, said: “We spend a lot of time fund-raising to keep our own charity running and at this time of goodwill we wanted to help another local charity too.

"I know the children and parents that attend our sessions and parties this year will make us proud and come laden with lovely presents for other local children that may not have been so lucky this Christmas. We’re thrilled to be supporting the Salvation Army’s great work.”
