DESPITE the snow, ice, public holidays and more snow, there are still a few bits of live music here and there over the coming weeks for those brave enough to head outside.
Unsurprisingly, there's not much on this weekend as everyone makes way for Christmas, which is also known in some heavy metal circles as 'annual turkey slaughter massacre time'.
The Standard in Walthamstow's Blackhorse Road hosts an Xmas bash on Thursday (December 23).
Barney and the Amazing Runts headline supported by unsigned bands Fuze, We Are The Basics and Comic Buster 'Love' Man.
Entry is £6 or £5 with a band flyer and doors open around 8.30pm.
Then there's not much at the venue until New Year's Eve when Bootleg Blondie rock the joint on for a very reasonable £9.
Doors open around 8pm.
The Square in Harlow also has a Crimbo party, but on Christmas Eve (Friday December 24).
A special house band featuring members of Collapsed Lung, Eddie and The Hot Rods, The Newtown Neurotics and The Worldonfire will provide the tunes, along with a few surprise guest vocalists.
It starts at 8pm and entry is £7. Over 16s only.
There's slim pickings at the Plough Inn on Wood Street in Walthamstow, with no more live gigs scheduled....ever. The future of the building is still unknown but it looks pretty certain it won't reopen as a pub in January.
But if you want to say goodbye in style as you cry into your pint, the pub will be hosting a farewell party with a DJ on New Year's Eve. Tickets are £10.
At Ye Olde Rose and Crown Theatre Pub, in Walthamstow's Hoe Street, Open Mic night will be on as usual on January 5 from 8pm. Entry is free.
Waltham Abbey Folk Club is closed over the next few weeks but gets going again on Monday January 3 with a Singaround night at its clubhouse on Brooker Road. Entry is £1.50p and doors are at 8.30pm.
