A BELOVED family cat has been put down after being mauled by a dog.
Tabby Minnie was fatally injured after being attacked by a tall white dog outside her home in York Way, Chingford.
Distraught Deniz Hasan, 17, rushed outside after hearing her mother, Fatma, scream last Friday afternoon.
She found the dog had 13-year-old Minnie in its mouth, while the dog’s distressed owner was lying on the floor.
Miss Hasan and her father rushed the cat to the vet, but its injuries were too severe to be treated and it was put down.
The incident, which happened on December 17, was reported to police, but it was decided that no crime had taken place.
Miss Hasan said: “I feel so angry.
"Every day I think about it and it keeps re-playing in my head.
"Minnie has been with us for 13 years, since I was little.
"She has never been sick and we thought she would die of an old age "The house is going to be so empty without her this Christmas.
"My father has already had two strokes and I am worried about what this could to him."
Miss Hasan says she thinks the dog should be taken away from the owner as she is incapable of controlling it.
She added: "What if that was a child? That dog could have done what it did to Minnie, to a toddler.”
